Tired of being stuck with tiny little Emojis?
Well, the developer for new app LOLy has the solution: huge, animated emoticons that you can send to friends via text message, Facebook, or email. You can also just copy them and send along to any other text-accepting app, like Twitter, Kik, or Whatsapp.
The images are cute and fun to send, and once you’ve used the images included with the free LOLy app, you’ll want to grab a couple more packs for $0.99 each.
“I primarily designed this app for women with a focus on the 30s-50s demographic,” says app developer Gina Pell. “I had a hunch that most emoji were geared towards teens and lacked the sophistication, style, or wit that my friends or I would find interesting.”
Once you download the five-star rated LOLy, you’ll get a bunch of adorable animated icons in various categories. There’s the Lips category (obviously), which contains biting lips, blech lips, blow me lips, chocolate-themed lips, frowny lips and more. Swiping through other options will get you Greetings like “Bon Voyage, or “Call Me,” or Word Up emoticons like animated versions of LOL, WTF, and OMG. There’s even a Life section with adorably expressive images for needing beauty rest, a big glass of wine, or an actual chill pill.
You can purchase one of two available image packs, one that has more animations like winking eyes, clapping seals, or weeping onions. The other purchase-able pack is named Love, and has all sorts of lovey icons like beating hearts, flower bouquets, and those candy valentine hearts.
Chances are even if you’re not a female, you’ll want to send these sweet nothings to a female (or a male, or anyone in between) at some point, because they’re just so darn cute. LOLy is free to
download right now in the App Store for the grand total of free, so you’ve got nothing to lose, and everything to gain.
Better yet, Pell is setting up a new implementation of LOLy for the new iOS 8 third-party keyboards. “I am currently working with a larger dev studio to design the next release of LOLy which will include an integrated emoji keyboard for iOS 8,” she tells us.
The new LOLy keyboard should be ready by November of this year.
