Google’s updating all of its first-party Android apps for Lollipop, and while some of them are just getting a new lick of paint, many will receive exciting new features at the same time. One of those apps is Gmail, which will finally support third-party email services, allowing you to use just the one app for all of your accounts.
I love the Gmail app for Android, but I don’t use it all that much because I have email accounts with iCloud and others as well, and checking multiple apps is a pain in the butt; it’s easier to just use a do-it-all app like CloudMagic instead. But with Android 5.0 Lollipop, that’s going to change.
Android Police reports that Google’s upcoming Gmail update will finally add the ability to sync with third-party mail services, including Yahoo, Outlook, and many others. It also has a gorgeous new look in line with the Material Design movement, which delivers brighter colors, better graphics, and fancier fonts.
Unlike some of Google’s other updates, Gmail isn’t expected to arrive before Lollipop, so we’ll have to wait until early November to get our hands on the new version. But by the looks of it, it’s going to be well worth the wait.
